厦门 Xiamen

Last June when departing early on a sunny Saturday morning for a few day Shanghai getaway, I was under the assumption we were going to a nice quiet beach town in south China called Xiamen. I couldn´t have been more wrong about Xiamen and I really should start reading the Lonely Planet China bible next to my bed. To sum it up there were few relaxing moments or quiet clean beaches to lay down on. We were more trying to move around in this overcrowded Chinese tourist city to find the next water bottle (or anything alcoholic) to cope with the crowd and the sweltering 40 degree humid summer heat.  But because on this trip me and P had the best travel partners ever, two of my Icelandic besties, the trip was over the top fun and unforgettable and included among others an epic karaoke night, countless margaritas, windowless hotel room, naughtiest pool guard ever, illegal speedboat, fake Corona bears ,  best live Filipino band ever, lovesick Swedish Viking in his 60´s and super drunk Chinese collage graduates. Good times.
