I like my Converse sneakers or
if I can say Converse because I am afraid that all of them except maybe
the purple pair are fake as they were bought on markets in China for a
more than a fare price. But although not being the real deal the
quality is very good and they are by far the most used shoes in my
closet. You can fit them with everything and I even sometimes take a
pair with me in my bag when I go out in heels and the plan is to stay to
long or spin well on the dance floor. What can I say I´m practical.
My wannabe Converse collection
Burgundy + Grey: Pearl City market, Shanghai (Bargained 2for1)
Purple: Flee market, Reykjavik.
Black: Pearl Market, Beijing.
Having this thing for cheap stuff
has cost me some struggle though. I don't want to be supporting child
slavery and bad working condition which is probably the case for a lot
of the stuff I have, no matter if it´s bought in a market or a real
store. But then again I´m afraid that it´s often the case for the luxury
brands as well.
Last
November I was in China and accompanied a friend to a commercial shoot
where she was doing the styling. When we arrived at the company's
office I realised I was walking into the Converse headquarters in Shanghai wearing fake Converse shoes. It did not feel right.
