A visit to Sidney has always been high on the list and after moving to Asia, Australia got a little bit closer. It came as a big surprise though that your still only half way there if coming from Europe (I have no geography skills). February was chosen for the trip as then it´s freezing cold in Shanghai and high summer in Australia. So it was a big disappointment when arriving to a chilly and wet Sidney on a Sunday morning, I was even wearing bikini under my travel clothes ready to work on my tan (which until now has not been seen but I will dye trying). To top the unasked-for bad weather everything closes down in the afternoon on Sundays so we ended up eating ridiculously expensive (that´s another thing Sidney is the 3rd most expensive city in the world) fish and chips at the hotel which by the way only had a dial up Internet for the price of an international call per minute. Even the world famous Opera house was a bit disappointing being very yellow and old looking up close. The problem with to high expectations you know. But even though not being able to live up to my high expectation, Sidney is a very good looking and picturesque city, I have to give her that.
Best regards Miss Grumpy.
